San Cristobal de la Habana

San Cristóbal de la Habana was the original name of Havana, the Cuban capital city when it was founded in 1519. San Cristóbal translates to St Christoper, namely the Saint of the day when the city was foundedLa Habana is from the Indian name for the site prior to the arrival of ColumbusThe San Cristóbal de la Habana brand was re launched in 1999 on the threshold of the new Millennium as a tribute to the city’s long history. 


The range initially comprised of only four vitolas, each named after one of the fortresses built between 16th to the 18th Centuries that defended Havana when it was the hub of Spain’s American empire. They were named, El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta and El Principe. 


In 2004, three new sizes were added to the San Cristóbal line upAll three references were named after well known streets in Havana’s Old Town- MurallaMercaderes and Oficios. All San Cristóbal  cigars are completely handmade (totalmente a mano) from long-filler tobacco (Tripa Larga) and are a light to medium flavored blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region.
